Purchasing
the Virtue Flat Range
The Powder River Sportsmen's Club is proceeding to purchase the Virtue
Flat Range from BLM. This page will provide updates
and
current information.
Information:
In December 2011 the
Club
received a letter from BLM acknowledging our
purchase application and extending our present lease terms for the
duration of the purchase process. BLM will start processing our
application in Summer 2012; estimated time to completion is 2 years.
At year-end 2011, Club accounts held as much as
$10,000 which could be ear-marked for
range purchase by vote of a quorum of members at a
Club
meeting. The expected cost to purchase the range is approximately
$45,000 including fees for appraisal, environmental assessment, and
survey. At present, revenues from member dues, match fees, range
reservations
and club affiliations are enough to meet annual operating expenses with
a small
reserve.
This means that the remaining funds necessary for
range purchase must
come from donations and fundraising efforts. The Club welcomes each
member to contribute in his or her own way. If you have ideas or time
available to assist with fundraising efforts, please come to a monthly
meeting and join the team! You can donate directly by mailing a check
to PO Box 162 in 97814 (write Range Purchase on the memo line of your
check), or by including a donation with your annual membership
renewal.
2012
Range Purchase Donations:
So far in 2012, PRSC has received Range Purchase donations
of over $2300!
A
special thanks to Herman and Eleanor Dopp for their generous donation
of $1000 to the Range Purchase Fund!
As long-time PRSC members and prior Club Officers, the Dopps hope other
members share their enthusiasm for this purchase, and they challenge
PRSC members and the Baker County community to rise to this opportunity
and support the Club's purchase of the Virtue Flat Range.
